Life on this earth has always been stressful. Threats to our survival and well-being, whether from the natural world or from what we may perceive as dangerous, have been part of every age. Today we live in a world that has multiple sources of stress. Whereas our ancestors found most of their threats to be directed at their very survival, in this modern age many mental situations and beliefs also act as stressors in our lives. What we perceive as threats is unique to each one of us: while the identical situation may be defined by one person as highly stressful, another person may see it as an exciting challenge.
Stress has been described as the potential source of many physical and emotional illnesses and diseases. We see it playing a role in our personal relationships and work experiences. We also find ourselves distracted and disturbed in our spiritual lives by the numerous worries we carry.
When your awareness is contracted by worry, the flow of energy and information throughout your spirit-mind and body is hampered. You tend to stay stuck in toxic emotions such as regret, resentment, and self-pity. The feedback loop between your spirit-mind and your body turns negative, and stress can hit you instantaneously or grind away at you day after day.
On the other hand, when you expand your awareness, your energy flows more freely. You’re more resilient, balanced, and creative. You have more energy and are open to curative change. At this level of awareness, you have all the power you could possibly need to create a new reality.
Sounds great….So what? This is not new information. Here is a clue from a long time ago to take it a step further. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates (c. 460-377 BC) who was the founding father of natural medicine taught that the natural healing force in each of us is the greatest force in getting well. That means there is inside of you and me, an endless energy source.
How do I tap into this jam-packed, free for the asking, restorative?, you may ask. It is a snap of the finger….well, almost. Take a moment at any time of the day or night, breathe deeply and fully taking in the breath of life, center your thoughts on you, and ask the great Unseen Healing Force to remove all obstructions from your mind and body and to restore you to perfect health. Ask this in all sincerity and honesty and do your part. Another one of the keys to harnessing this potentially unlimited power of the spirit- mind is to visualize yourself healthy, whole, and perfect. Believe Good health is my divine right. I am open and receptive to all the healing energies in the universe. I know that every cell in my body is intelligent and knows how to heal itself. My body is always working toward perfect health. I now release any and all impediments to my perfect healing. (Louise Hay)
Awareness through prayer isn’t passive. It directly leads to action or inaction. As you take steps to expand your awareness or ask, seek, and willingly be open to a fuller understanding of you, your mind’s infinite power to create greater health, happiness, and love in your life will become abundantly clear.
